Learn to knit Sanquhar Gloves at A’ the Airts
Run by the brilliant Mrs May MacCormick.
The classes are run in 9-week blocks and the next session starts here in 2024.
The course fee is £65.00 plus materials.
You will need to bring a set of 4 double pointed needles (1.75mm or 2mm) and two 50g balls of 3 ply wool of two contrasting colours, we can supply you these if you let us know beforehand what colour yarn and size of needles you would like.
May advises beginners to not use black and white to start and the course is aimed at experienced knitters that can ‘knit on the round’.

Sanquhar Knitting Tours | A visitor experience at A’ the Airts
In November 2014, UNACCI (Upper Nithsdale Arts and Crafts community initiative) launched a major new knitting project which is hoped to make a significant impact on the economic climate of Upper Nithsdale. The idea of the initiative is to ultimately resurrect a dying cottage industry. A cottage industry which centres around knitted textiles.
Call 01659 50514 or email email@example.com to register your interest for our next tour.
For more information on the initiative, to browse the gallery and to purchase knitwear, please visit the Sanquhar Pattern Designs website.
We are always looking for new people to join our team of knitters and learn how to use our knitting machines. You don’t have to be able to knit , you can be a complete novice! Please contact us to discuss further. Some evening sessions are available.
