Located almost directly half way between Ayr and Dumfries on the A76 is Sanquhar, small market town, nestled in the Nith Valley by the Lowther Hills.

Known for its striking scenery, Sanquhar is also home to a variety of attractions including Sanquhar Castle, the Tolbooth Museum and Sanquhar Post Office, the oldest in the world. More recently, the Crawick Multiverse was established, a swirling landscape representing the cosmos, designed by Charles Jenks.

Sanquhar is also known for walking trails and is a stop on the renowned Southern Upland Way. For more information plus walking and cycling trails, visit Scotland Starts Here.
